I like going on dates — I like meeting people like that. But I go on a lot of dates from Tinder. I was seeing a guy, and we met through a mutual friend of ours. Michigan is a really big party school, so basically there are house parties whenever you want. In my experience, hooking up has led to going on dates. Even though I would prefer to have a relationship with someone, hooking up is more accessible and less risky emotionally.
Hooking up is easier in that sense. I felt like a minority within a minority. I came to this school and noticed that there were only white men on these apps, and they all seemed to know each other. When I got messaged by other non-white people, they were the ones who actually wanted to have conversations with me and not just talk about having sex.

The exception to this is parties hosted by people affiliated with the gay community or liberal groups. If you have trouble with the dating scene and just can't find anyone, don't worry! I'm at a community college right now, so it's pretty tragic how few lgbt individuals there are to meet. There are a few fraternities that are officially "for" LGBT men, but they are few and far between. If you're lucky enough to have one on campus, I'd consider rushing. Fraternities are what you make of them, and they're often misrepresented. Coed fraternities, and fraternities that aren't recognized by the IFC tend to be really open minded as well. Or, really, any organization. Explore your interests, and get to know people who are into your interests as well.

You'll meet someone. I wouldn't worry about finding a man, because if you're being yourself doing things you like, someone with similar passions will come your way inevitably. Second for fraternities. I never thought I'd join one when I moved in with a fraternity guy who I was friends with. They were extremely supportive.
